Cogs

When I went to the craft fair last Sunday we were looking at dies at one stall and my friend was saying how she liked the cogs. I said they were a good size for cards compared with the large cogs original sizzix die. This is what my friend does make me look at something I would of past by giving it a second look and end up buying them.

I'm so glad I picked them up and though I hadn't planned to use them straight away I decided to use some gold, silver and copper paper to cut them out which means they look like metal so I could enter the Less is More challenge. Just in case the paper metal doesn't cut it the brads in the centres are metal.

The Off the Grid stamp that Nikki used at another friends Stampin Up party would have looked great on this card but I had to make do with these grungy stamps. (don't worry the Off the Grid has been ordered).
I always feel guilty about CAS this one is included the only part that took a long time was moving the cogs around till I was happy.

Oh wow - thanks for this brilliant card Debby. I so wanted those cog dies - bought them and have hardly used them for want of inspiration.

Hi Debby . . . well this is certainly a different style for you, but one that you have TOTALLY ROCKED. I LOVE this CAS card. The line stamp from Gorgeous Grunge goes perfectly with those brilliant cogs. I can't wait to see what you make using the Off The Grid stamp when it arrives (I have that one too!).

Could you give me details of the cog die please?

Hugs, Sarn xxx

I get entirely where you are coming from. CAS always seems like a cop out to me too and often involves a lot of faffing around getting the layout right!! However, you have done a fabulous job and it's perfect for a lad xx

Your card is great, Debby - a perfect masculine card and so different for you. I think you could make those cogs look even more like real metal by putting them face-down on a Versamark ink pad, then heat embossing them with metallic embossing powder. I bet they'd look really cool that way, too!
