Janny Texting

I made a couple of cards for my DD Birthday on Friday, this one was the one I decided not to give her. It's inspired by a lovely blogger I follow Ruby-Dooby-Doo Crafts, love her cards.

I've used Mo's Digi image of Janny Texting combining my daughter love of books and her phone! I doodled my border even the hearts.

The sentiment is an old one on my desk, I think its really old cos the clear stamp is very sticky and I think perhaps its not going to last much longer, keeping it on my desk probably doesn't help.

I acquired the floral dies and I haven't got a name for them, I got them to replace my favourite punches which my hands now don't love anymore.

I know those in the US are especially suffering from the cold weather but here in UK is pretty chilly no way as bad some scary photos on instagram showing temperatures but I know my joints are saying its too cold for me.

I love how my card worked out but its really strange the cards I'm not so keen on get more views, go figure.

Anyway but to my card I've used Floppy Pup from Impression Obsession, I kinda knew it would be this style of card and decided that I could make it a sympathy card. Especially as I have the beautiful stamp set from Simon says Stamp called Moments of Grace with the meaniful words stamps.

Now rather than walk away after stamping the words I decided to use the Simon says Stamp Paw Print stencil I cheated and used a brown copic pen rather than blending an inkpad. This is probably where I should have done less.

To make the panel my doggy is sitting interesting I used the Simon says Stamp Wavy Scallop Stitched border.

I apologies to everyone trying to comment on my blog seems I forgot to save settings, at least that horrible spammer couldn't comment either.

Dinosaurs

I decided to post my dino card, I did have it in mind for a little lad turning six but decided there was a better image to use.
So my dinosaurs are from My Favourite Cutieasaurs and I have the dies too. The palm trees and grass are from the same stamp set.

The papers are Doodlebug At the Zoo and were placed behind the MFT Stitched Collage Frame.

Lets see if I can work out how I made the sentiment, the words came from various stamp sets. The main lot of words came from Simon says Stamp Sending and Wishing stamp set the rest I can't work out where from, the only thing I do know they are from Simon say Stamp. Finally the number was using Newton Nook Essential Alphabet.

Friends

I had the pleasure of meeting Marianne one of my best crafty friends, we've met a couple times but we actually managed to sit together here and have a good long chat.

The beautiful papers are Kaiser and I was struggling to cut it so I decided to cut it in squares but still matching when placed on white card.

The leaves are Simon says Stamp Clustered Leaves with their Stitched Butterflies but I used the Simon says Stamp Adeline Butterfly for the bodies.

I think the black and white letters could be a Tim Holtz pad of words but not sure now and the letters are some old Basic Grey ones, I have loads of them which I'm determined to use.

Just noticed I used some Simon say Stamp Flickering Butterflies as well, you can never have too many butterflies and great for hiding dirty marks!

More Blue and Silver

So last week I had the blue and silver card out and while making last weeks card I also made these two cards using some old Memory Box dies that have been barely been used. The first one is using a large die called Hanging Ornaments that fits the whole side of card.

Since the sentiment from Simon says Stamp Christmas Cheer was already lined up on a acrylic block I used the sentiment again.

This bauble is from two dies from Memory Box Snowflake Ornament and Classic Ornament this time I wanted them to hang from Christmas Tree Branches so I added the Simon says Stamp Pine Needle Trio.  Again the same sentiment was used but don't worry it's now back in its packet

Chubby Baby

Mo Manning's babies are a must have and there is so many gorgeous ones, my card today is using one of the Diaper Crew and the best bit they can be unisex.

The card may look busy but it actually very simple, the papers are Echo Park and my Stitched Scallop Border is a MFT die. The only embellishment is the large sentiment die from Simon says Stamp Welcome Little One and I love it comes with backing so I can add some 3d foam squares to give it more focus.

It's been a bit chilly here in the UK, a few flurries of snow but nothing more but for some reason my body is struggling to keep warm even though the house temperature is cosy,  I need to hurry up and make my new crochet blanket bigger to help me keep warm.

Hava a Heart

wed-newchallenge-header

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge
Thank you for joining us for the CAS Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.

This week the challenge is:

Have a Heart

Valentine's Day wll soon be here so maybe think about making your loved ones a card or project to show them how much you care :-)
We are showcasing My favorite Things Products this week. You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used

I decided it was time to do some paper piecing and the My Favourite Things Pure Innocence is perfect for the job. I've used Sending Blessings and I've paper pieced her with Echo Park I am Mom. Before I forget I brought the dies too, this is handy when placing her on coloured or patterned card.

I decided to place her on a heart and made a scene with blue and green card, first I cut out the green using Simon says Stamp Stitched Slopes and Hills then cut out using their Nested Heart Dies.

I added three clouds using Memory Box  Puffy Clouds not really thinking where my images would go by the time I stuck them down I really need one more but it doesn't look too bad.

I added some blossom to the tree using Simon says Stamp Mini Flowers and Leaves I'm thinking Spring had enough of winter already.

I carefully cut out the centre of the main background using Simon says Stamp Stitched Rectangles, added a white border then layered back on the patterned paper hiding the hole in the middle this way I only used one sheet.

Finally a sentiment which I used the Simon says Stamp Get Well Soon die to finish. I think I've remembered everything.

Bluebird Heart

Last week it was a Pink Bird now how about a blue bird again using My Favourite Things (MFT) Tweet Friends stamps and their matching dies.

Can you believe it but it's only now I've found time to stamp Simon says Stamps Quilted Heart Background stampI would definitely recommend using a stamp positioner if not you need a really large acylic blog and if you hands are like mine you miss stamping the middle with a stamp positioner you just stamp again. I did trim the stamped quilted heart to fit a normal size card.

I cut the pink card in strips and stuck to a scrap bit of paper then cut out using Simon says Stamp Nested Heart dies. Finally to finish a sentiment using Simon says Stamp Tiny Words and their Stitched Banners.

Blue and Silver

There's another Christmas Challenge called CAS Christmas Challenge which is for Blue and Silver since I love that colour combo and I've got the Pinpoint Ornaments from Poppystamps which I never used so the two came together.

The fabulous sentiment is from Simon says Stamp Christmas Cheer and the twine was in my stash.

Goodness that's all I  used except things like the Navy inkpad and the Navy cardstock also if you looking for silver card.

Pink Bird

I know a card for Friday but these cute birds from MFT called Tweet Friends arrived in my craft room and I had to make something. I got the dies to which is hand if you are going to stand the bird on coloured paper.

I also got the Sweet Stack from MFT and cut it out with one of their Stitched Hearts dies. The sentiment is a Simon says Stamp Tiny Words and using an old Freshly Made sketch my CAS is done.

Its been a quiet week apart from having my hair done Tuesday and Hubby preparing the little bedroom ready for decorating. We had some carpet left from out bedroom and should fit in this small room leaving the other double room to do. Didn't realise how much craft stash was actually in the room.

I've had another wool order delivered to make this when the pattern is released today I hope. These won't be my colours. Meanwhile I'm surging ahead with my Thursday Night Squares but I'll soon be thinking of another pattern to do.

Moon Baby

Not only do you get this adorable Moon Baby but you also get a night sky background that I've used previously for a Christmas card. I've paper pieced the moon not sure my colouring is up to such a large open space.

I used the Lawn Fawn Heart Background die and their Stitched Scallop Borders and I think the papers are an old Lawn Fawn pack. The scallop square is a nestabilities. I think the stars are MFT but I can't see if they are stitched or not so they could be Spellbinders.

Finally the sentiment is an Whiff of Joy who are no longer trading.

Its strange that on Instagram my CAS cards get the best views but give me a CAS challenge and my brain goes to mush.

I made a card and so wasn't happy with it, so I got out this gorgeous Hero Arts Thorn Tree and Grasses die and with the fabulous Simon says Stamp Moments of Grace sentiment worked out brilliantly together.

Here's the card I wasn't happy with I used the same sentiment and I used the Simon says Stamp Honey Leaves die which I coloured with copics definitely will use this idea again.

The Hero Arts Color Laying Owl I stamped in Browns didn't like it so I stamped it again in Greens I felt it was better but still wasn't happy which is why I made the other card.

The image mat was using Simon says Stamp Stitched Rectangles and the dotty green papers is Pink and Main Sunset Paper. I'm going to have to have another go at this card to redeem myself.

Throwback Monday

I have been a blogger since 2006 although due to  lack of any idea how to blog I didn't post much that year but 2007 things seemed to pick up a bit. I was creating more Scrapbooking than cards but I was still making a few.

The first one is using punches and the little bear which was a card lift from Jo Kill not sure she is still crafting, the little bear would still work today.

Below is a card using watercolour pencils to colour there was no fancy pens etc then but they weren't far away. You can see I was 3d my images even then. I think I may still have those stamps.

Like I said I did more Scrapbooking then rather than the other way round now. Here's a couple of my favourites.

My photo skills were just as bad then as they are now. 2007 was the year I was retired on health grounds after working for the same company for 18 years.

It was 2007 that the Make it Show was at Thorpe Park but they cancelled because of bad weather and a damaged tent. Also I went Orlando to see my daughter who was working for Disney. I also went to Chelsea Flower Show with my Sister.

Not another Photo

I have some more photos to go with this layout which I will make in the same papers although I have a horrible feeling I don't know where I put it.

It's another one made last year at the All Day Crop with the Scrap Cafe at Bracknell. The hexagons are made with Stampin Up punch and the camera and phone are made with some very old My Favourite Things die.

Looking at it now I think maybe that yellow in the phone is really annoying, I wonder how long I will be able to put up with it.

There as been a normal crop already this year but I took my colouring I really need to get my card making head back on and blog a bit more. I also need to sort out my scrapbooking it won't be long before the Scrap Cafe Retreat will be here.

Berries

Starting as I mean to go on I've made a start on Christmas cards 2019 and I used the ABC Christmas Challenge B for Berries to inspire me.

First of I decided to use the Penny Black Holly die in fact I cut two of them. This is so I could cut out a sprig of holly to give the first card a finished edge. The join hidden with some pearl berries. The only problem I have with this die the berries are large and you have to use large pearls so it won't go through  normal post.

The frame mats are MFT which I was disappointed again that they layered with a large border, sentiment is Simon says Stamp Christmas Tiny Words.

I had this sprig left over so I used it for a similar card I made last year. Knowing the berries were large I cut them off so I could use smaller pearls.

The poinsettia is Simon says Stamp Poinsettia Parade love the size of this flowers. The border on my white mat is an old Lawn Fawn Stitched border die and again the sentiment is the same as above.

Not sure why my white is a bit grey and fuzzy I think the camera's battery is running out but also it's been grey and miserable weather so lighting is another problem at the moment.

Crochet Update

I finally finished my experiment I've made a Shrug using the Squared Lost in Time pattern, this is a paid pattern on Ravelry but I think it was worth it.

The yarn is Stylecraft Batik Swirl Forest and the edging was using a matching Batik. It did take quite a few swirls in fact five and I made a fold edging which again took 3 balls of matching Batik.

It's incredibly warm but I'm a bit worried it might stretch with the weight but we will wait and see, it could be it will return to size once its been washed again, a bit like a pair of jeans.

I used the diagram on this blog to work out how much armhole space to make and size.

I gone back to making squares that I was making on Thursday Nights at my Sister's while I decide what to make next.

Heart You

Another Love card this time I've used Mo's Heart You and some old Simple Stories.

I used Sketch Saturday to inspire the sketch but the image mat isn't quite look enough for it to be an obvious match to the sketch.

I used MFT Stitched Banners and their Stitched Scallop Frame for the image and the sentiment is a Simon says Stamp one. There's a tiny bit of paper on the sentiment which I've just checked and blew it away must remember to double check. Not hurry to take the photo before the light go.

As a scrapbooking as well as card maker I was drawn to getting the Crafters Stapler from We R Memory Keeps its very handy for attaching Vellum which is what I've done with for my card.

I've used the fabulous stamps from the Simon says Stamp card kit you can get the stamp set separately called Snow Much.

I have a pile of Oxides background and luckily I had two blue ones which I then cut out using Simon says Stamp Stitched Rectangles.

I cut round my snowman trying to leave a tiny white border round them except the snowman's head for the envelope. The stamped the sentiment using a Versamark inkpad and used WOW Bright Opaque White.

I made a card front then added it to the card but before I did I turned the card front over and using something heavy to flatten the staples to help it to be flat and easier to stick.
