Hi all and welcome to the start of the 25 Days of Christmas Tags event hosted by the fabulous Tracey McNeeley aka In My Creative Opinion ! This is the 8th year that Tracey has hosted this event and Simon Says Stamp is thrilled to get the ball rolling on Day 1!

By joining in with the event YOU could win a $50 Gift Voucher to Simon Says Stamp! How awesome is that! ;-)

This is the third year I think that I've been asked to join in on the behalf of Simon Says Stamp and your can see I've used possibly my favourite tag die Stitched Dress Up Tag die.  I cut out another tag in red and start adding the dots and wished I had chosen another die but it's always worth it even though a bit time consuming.

I added a bit of interest using the Simon says Stamp Scallop Stitched border, you could layer it  under the dots to give an impression of red dots certainly would speed things up why didn't I think of that then!

I decided to make a wreath using the the pine needles from the Simon says Stamp Pine Needles Wreath die this way I could make what size I like. I then added the Simon says Stamp Holly Fanfare for my Holly. Finally the Ornate Ornaments were on my desk with the perfect sentiment on, I would like add I stamped it first before layering my wreath.

The bit of ribbon is out of my ribbon box I should say trunk since I'm alway picking up ribbon and people keep giving me theirs!

I always panic when I see how everyone dressed their photo, so I quickly found some wrapping paper and empty my stock cubes which are now rolling around my corner carousel where my tins a packet live.

I was a bit disappointed in the tags I made below so I had to quickly make up another, now I'm not sure about this one and the others have grown on me. First of I made the tags by using MFT Single Stitched Line Tag Corner Rectangles Frame and I used it to draw round to make the background in Soft Navy card.

I made my snow mound using Simon say Stamps Stitched Slopes and Hill and the hills are made from MFT Snow Capped Mountains using some scrap card out of my scrap box.

I didn't want the whole tag taken up with mountains so I used the star from the Simon says Stamp Ornate Ornaments  it also had the great sentiment from our family to yours sentiment. I also have the dies.

I made these tags the same way using the die cut to draw round etc. I roughly used a watercolour pencil then used some water bring the colour across but the paper wouldn't play ball, probably because it prefers copics or my polychromos with sansador.

You can recognise the sentiment but so are the other words, handy stamp set.

I've been looking for a decent Christmas Pudding Tea Cosy crochet pattern, so Christmas Pudding Tea Pots are very much in my mind which would explain the my tag.

I made the teapot first using My Favourite Thing Tea Party die cutting the teapot first in scrap of brown card. Then I used My Favourite Things Stitched Cloud Edges, well one of the dies with white, once cut I then cut the teapot die again and basically stuck the white on top of the brown.

I was pleased with my teapot and it got my approval to make into a tag for this weeks challenge. So I got out the Simon Says Stamp Large Tag die and cut a tag out of some MFT Merry and Bright plaid pattern paper.

The sentiment was already stamped out and matted on red using Simon Says Stamp Christmas Toys stamp set. The fishtail ends were made using a square punch.

It just so happened that I had the Simon Says Stamp Holly Collage die had landed in my craft room and I used the die to make my holly and berries.

I recommend bookmarking Tracy's Blog, I've seen the some sneak peeks on amazing tags coming in the next 25 days. I'm almost ashamed to show my little tag and my effort to make a seasonal photo. Yes the Christmas Salt and Pepper pots have been dusted ready for my Christmas posts.

Now my cute tags are made using some Oxides but first I stamped the Simon Says Stamp Snow Falling back ground stamp with Versamark and embossed using WOW Bright White embossing powder.

I then cut out my tags using the Simon Says Stamp Large Tags dies, then out came the Oxides I used Broken China. Salty Sea and Faded Jeans to make my snowy sky. My snow drifts are cut using the Simon Says Stamps Slopes and Hills dies.

My cute reindeer is another die from Simon Says Stamp called Retro Deer die, just used a black pen to dot an eye and found some small red pearls for nose out of my own stash but you easily use Nuvo Drops or Liquid Pearls.

To finish I've used the Simon says Stamp Stitched Flakes and added a sentiment using Simon Says Stamp Retro Christmas stamp. The back of my tags are a bit messy so I cut some more white tags to stick to the back and stamped the to and from which are also in the same stamp set.

Tag

So finally Stamptember has arrived so I hope you're following Simon Says Stamp on FB and their Blog to join in all the fun. I was very lucky to receive a stamp set from Simon Says Stamp called Artsy Shapes.

Now I'm going to honest they really not my type of stamp I don't do journalling books which I would imagine they would work great but what I did like was the line stamp which would work for journalling on Scrapbooking pages and love the date which again for scrapbooking.

The tag I made was using the Simon Says Stamp Dress Up Tags dies this also comes with me every time I go to a crop. I used the recent colours released Oxides Salty Sea, Picked Raspberry and Antique Linen.

Now you could stamp the Artsy shapes first and mask them before blended but I'm far too lazy to do that so I stamped them on white card and cut them out. I used a Distress Pen Pumice Stone round the edges to hide my rubbish cutting.

Mmmmm I think I could use these Artsy shapes a lot after all.x

I made two tags for this challenge mainly because I was keen on the dark tags colours and I planned to emphasise the light coloured because thats the one I prefer. That was till I got a little reminder that my link on the challenge blog was to Stampers Anonymous and not to Ranger. Lucky for me the Dark tag I used Ranger Distress Crayons set 7. Ok I wasn't keen on the colours even when I smothered it with water and tried blottering some of it off but it does work well with the dark version of my tag.

I also had wee accident with the Perspective butterfly when I was rolling it with pen, maybe the Ranger Watercolour Card (ooh look something else thats Ranger forgot this too)  was still a bit wet. I'm not telling what happened, I'll let you find it!

So now with the tag, I made my own and decided to use Simon Says Stamp Leaves Background stamp and I used two Simon Says Stamp Inkpad Willow for the darker one and Jellybean for the light tag.

I used the same inkpads with a Inkylicious Ink Dusters to make the lighter colour behind the leaves.

To give more interest to the tags I used the Tim Holtz Alterations Wildflowers in white and black, I also add some black ink round the dark tag to make it more grungy.

I used the same Butterfly stamp as the dark one but I used Versamark with WOW white embossing powder and blended with some colour with a blending tool to get into the small spaces. I used Simon Says Stamps Mini Hybrid Ink cubes.

I still prefer my light colour tag.

Snowflake Tag

I needed to make a tag for the Everybody Art Challenge, I rarely make tags unless forced so I decided to make one to match the Christmas paper I've brought.

My wrapping is silver foil with white snowflakes so that was my inspiration and it doesn't look much but I did make ten of them.

I found the largest die of a snowflake I owe which is the Simon Says Stamp Funky Snowflake which is three inches wide. I then used a stitched circle die which in my case was Simon says Stamp and cut two for each Snowflake and sandwiched the Snowflake in between.

I then gathered all my snowflake dies together, yes it quite obvious I really don't need anymore! Out of them all I found one that fitted into my circle, another Simon Says Stamp Snowflake called Maryanne. A sticky back gem and a bit of silver thread to finish. Although making a hole into one the snowflake branch was a bit tricky so I made a slit with a sharp craft knife, my ten snowflakes turned into nine.

Here'e the reverse to show there is plenty of room to write on.

Finally my two very busy weekends have ended with a visit to BIL with my two adult children in tow. Feeling a bit fatigue and fragile but still have some Christmas card to make and few other things to sort out.

Christmas Tags

I failed miserably at the beginning of the month with the Anything BUT a card for this months Penny Black Saturday Challenge. It's still a bit of cop out but for the mid month reminder I've made some tags!!!

I first cut out the tags using Simon Says Stamp Dressed Tags die till I was bored. I actually used a stamp a ma jig to stamp the Penny Black Snowflake and Holly because I wanted to stamp part of the image and leave enough space to write on. I stamped using a green inkpad and used my Polyochromos to colour in circular motion because the inkpad wasn't the right type to use sandsador and paper stubs.

Here's a link to a card with the stamp in its entirety and here is a link to a card I made that inspired my tags.

That is pretty much it, just added some red gingham ribbon and 15 tags done. I've made these for the Christmas Fair at Queen Elizabeth Nursing Home next week.

The staff really make this special not only for visitors but the residents love the party atmosphere. Although the funds raised goes to charity my sister is having a stall and the money raised will be for residents activities. My sister is a volunteer helper so more residents can join in the activities so she knows how much a few more pounds to their small budget would be gratefully received.

Things were going so well with my tag I used Kraft card and stamped the Holly from Tim Holtz Mini Holidays 3, I was going to colour the holly berries in red but decided to leave it till last in case it wouldn't work in the end I decided my tag was busy enough.

I then stamped the Merry Christmas in gold and embossed using Liquid Platinum embossing powder, using the snowflakes again from the same set this time I stamped with versamark and then using WOW opaque bright white embossing powder.

Meanwhile I had stamped my crazy bird on white card couple of times and using red and brown inkpads and Mini Round Blending tools coloured the bird in robin colours. I cut out the tail and body also the eyes and beak.

This is the point things started to go downhill, I couldn't find the Simon Says Stamps Be Joyful set it had falling snow stamp on it even if the set had been retired I would have kept it just for that stamp so instead I used Simon Says Stamps Falling Snow Stencil with Dreamweaver Glossy White Embossing Paste.  Now I had green snow! Ok so its a bit better than yellow snow.

I mat and layered the tag with white and a Kraft shaped tag and then stamped a crazy bird so that the legs and the ends of the curls will show up after I layer my robins body. (There was no way I was cutting curls out and the dies are still on my wish list).

I decided my tag was too plain and added some faux stitching using a white pen and to finish a bit of Doodlebug twine.

Of course in hindsight there was a couple of things I could have done to avoid green snow first my holly could have been embossed with clear powder or what I wanted to do in the first place which was stamp my snow and using white embossing powder. Saying that I'm still impressed with my tag.

So now it's YOUR turn.  Happy Crafting

Santa Tags

There is a fabulous pin on Pinterest of Santa tags but the link didn't link back to the tags for details but it was easy to work out.
I used the Stampin Up tag punch to make the tag in white, use it again with red card. Cut a strip for the brim of his hat. Circle punch for his head I used 1 1/2 inch one. His moustache is the bird wing from the bird punch but I flipped the card over.
Found out where my chalks were to add a bit of blusher to his face and couple of dots for his eyes.
Cute or what.

I might not have been making cards but I had to make tags. My first one was the the card shape, I do prefer these because I put a bit of double sided tape on the back and they seem less likely to fall off. Here I used the trees from Be Joyful stamps and I used the Stitched Square wafer and stuck on a small card shape.
The second made like a proper tag of stripes of Christmas patterns I used Simon Says Stamp Be Joyful and Present and Ornaments sets.

The last pair was quickly made for my DD who need two and it just so happened I had a couple of Lawn Fawn Penquins left over from a card. I used the Simon Says Stamp Stitched Slopes and Hills which one layered over each other I then used the Stitched Square die over it all so that I got the stitched all round the square including over the stitched snow mounds.
You may have realised I have no card for the new Everybody Art Challenge thats because I'm taking a break this week to take the pressure off but if you pop over to the challenge you will see its Sketch week.
Also I have had really issues commenting on peoples blog. I use Bloglovin and open several blogs at a time and then discover those with pop up comment blogs sometimes Mr Blogger won't let me comment,  mine included so I have now embedded comments my blog.
I may also started a bit of panic over the fact I don't have word verification, again if you have pop up comments you will discovered that some of you now have it even if you settings say you don't. I believe this is a Chrome and Mr Blogger hiccup. One of my DT team-mates has found out if you don't have the word verification settings and it appearson your comment page you don't have to use it to comment.
I pleased to say I made two cards yesterday, well they still have to glitterzise had to wait till the glue dried, fingers crossed and couple more today.
