Sketch

Its a sketch challenge on Everybody Art Challenge this week. I've use some LOTV papers and actual cut out a doily with them using a Cheery Lynn die.
The rest was fairly easy using my favourite Lace and ribbon effect and the Holly is of course the Martha Stewart punch.
The image is from Mo Manning Ragged Angel she is one of the many Christmas images that I love using. To give the image focus I've added the Memory Box Stars although I few choice words were spoken when I couldn't find some glitter card I had put in a safe place so in the end I had to add some glamour dust instead which I also added to her wings.
Do pop over and check the fabulous creations and hope you can join us this week.

Poinsettia Joy

Still having probs with taking photos this one is a bit blurry when I post it extra large. I have a couple in my camera to upload will see what they look like.
Inside my Floral Oval I used Tim Holtz Brick stencil and Simon Says Stamp Falling Snow Background stamp.
My cluster of Poinsettias is using Simon Says Cluster of Leaves and Poinsettia Parade, I do love the size of the Poinsettias.
To finish I used the Joy word also from Simon Says Stamps, it recently arrived in the house and needed to check out how it would work, that my excuse and sticking with it.

More 60th

Few more from Hubby's book really must try and photo the rest also apologies for fussy, crooked photos once again blame the photographer.

Blast didn't see the tower of london had moved but it does line up in RL.  I had put the photo and papers in the pockets and the only thing I did to decorate was to write the journalling explaining who this chap was. At least that's 2012 finished. I still have Harry Potter to do but I'm going to try and do that at home because I want to use the Griffindor seal I brought on the pages and you have to light the wax not something to do at a hotel with sprinklers!!!!

Winter Wishes

A slightly better photo of my card but still not straight but I've now decided where I shall take the photo and I take them sitting on a chair a much better position for me
So my card is using Doodlebug papers and Penny Black Chill Day although I want to say Run Hedgie Run.
It is only right if new stuff arrive in my overfull craftroom so the Snowflake border is from Simon Says Stamps which I used to cut the shape on image mat too so it would fit next to it.
I used the Simon Says Stamp Kinley Snowflake too since it match the border.
The sentiment is LOTV and I cut the button from an MFT die. The fluffy stuff on their border is fun flock and flowersoft could brush the colours a bit since the camera has picked up bits of the clothes.

It was awful to wake and find out the terrible news in Paris how do you fight an invisible enemy but the time has come in my opinion to all Europe for more thorough checking at our borders and know exactly who live among us. My heartfelt thoughts goes to all those families who have lost their love ones

Crocheting Update

No card today but an update on crocheting, I've just realised I'm a bit OCD and have to finish what I start before I start something else. Which means I'm not making animals or minions till I finish the granny square blanket but then I start another because I can make the squares in the car journey to MIL. I suspect when I finish the new one I've just started the last time we visited MIL, it will be time to visit again and new one will be start for that journey.
The pattern is out of the 200 Crochet blocks for Blankets and I joined using SC.

I was experimenting with a frilly border not sure I acutally like it and I had to alter it slightly so it would lay flat but have Hubby said you not making it for anyone you know and it looks fine so I left it but will do a different edge.
I'm now making a baby's blanket and my squares are quite a bit smaller but I shouldn't have to make it quite so big.

Paper Piecing

I'm doomed to take crooked photos, can you believe that this is a square card and the best of the bad bunch.
This was the card I was going to make for the Everybody Art Challenge but thought the other one I made would be quicker, who was I kidding.

Of course my image is Valerie from Mo's shop and I printed off her clothes in the patterned paper and treated the pieces exactly the same way if they were coloured. I added a bit of gold using a gel pen on her hat just to break it apart from the scarf.

The snowflakes are cut from fun foam and the word dies are from Penny Black, no idea whose the paper from they were some odd ones together.

Nearly all of Christmas present brought still waiting for some arrive but I now thinking I ought to make some Christmas tags.

We are lucky that we found out the challenges for Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge well in advance so we have a chance to buy some new goodies from the featured craft company. Well I totally missed that we were using Hero Art this week so rather some brand new stuff I managed to find some old favourites that are still available from Simon Says Stamp.

First of all the paper is Kaiser Fairy Dust and I stamped the Hero Arts Leafy Vines direct to the paper using WOW embossing powder. Now I decided to paper prick round the paper hoping this will avoid me have to mat a layer but the jury is still out on that one.

My Butterfly is again from Hero Arts called Artist Butterfly, this time I stamped on two contrasting paper from the Kaiser paper pad using Gold Pearl embossing powder and carefully cut them out.  I stamped one butterfly direct to paper so that the Butterfly's antenna are stamped and therefore I don't have to cut them out. I used a Uni Ball Pen Signo Gel White to add some white to the butterfly.

Since this was a thinking of you challenge I got out the Simon says Stamp Thinking of you Die first cut out in white then in gold.

Oops I pressed Publish instead of link, the senior moments are coming thick and fast.

Shade of Brown

This wasn't the first card that came to mind when I saw the new challenge for this weeks Everybody Art Challenge Shades of Brown but I decided to use the Stampendous Snow scene.
I used some Sand and Taupe coloured card and used the matching inkpads to stamp the images, the lighter one for the background and the darker one for the oval.

I got out some of my favourite Christmas dies, the Holly from Penny Black but its been cut up to suit my card and Poinsettia Parade by Simon Says Stamp. Forgotton how the Penny Black Holly eats up my adhesive pearls.

My biggest problem was how to photo the card, the way I usually take has become too difficult to do and Hubby reminded me that we had a tripod for the camera but it took several tries to work out how to take photo without have to alter the tripod each time.

Then I wondered if trying to get a straight card was the problem and all my cards could be taken at an angle but I can't get the OCD part of me, it just doesn't look right.

Anyway do hope you can join us this week and pop over to the challenge to check out the team.

For BIL

Remember the Male card I made that appealed to my sense of humour and not Hubby's well this is the card I made instead, hopefully BIL doesn't check out my blog its not his birthday till next week.

I've used Mo's image of King for the Day and I paper pieced the chair to match the main mat. I also made it very CAS by only using the Paper Smooches Happy Birthday, I have another one slightly larger but I searched everywhere for it but it turned up after I had stuck the other on the card.

I think the numbers could be Simon Says Stamps but on the other hand I found them in my number box. I haven't separated the number dies so when I cut out a number I cut all of them and keep them in a pot, the same with alphabet dies.

I have everything crossed well I would if I could, to get in to my craftroom and to be able to actual take some photos of a couple of DT cards that are actually straight and not fuzzy.

Scrapbooking

Some more layouts I made at the retreat, I was really pleased with what I managed to achieve but a bit of planning was involved. I decide on my photo's and then find the patterned papers. Once thats done I find some plain cardstock to match. Then comes the awkward bit I take far too many dies or punches just in case I fancy decorating with them and I have a collection of word stickers which I do go through to make sure they're revelant to what I'm scrapbooking.
The first picture is with two of my friends I met through blogging,we actually at the Lily of Valley shop, Still not sure of the flowers but it was from the set of pattern papers they all came from. The leaves from Simon Says Stamps

This is probably my favourite layout and I love that the odds and ends of the patterned pack make such a good design. You have now choice but use the scraps and no cutting into large pieces of pretty paper. Luckily my Sister brings her cricut which I used to cut the large letters. The hearts are from Simon Says Stamp. The little bit of journalling says " It's only when you lose someone you realise you don't have many photos of them. So you have to CHERISH the ones you do have."

This lay out is another favourite, I get to use the Paper Smooches paw prints die, I use the waste to help with placement of the toes. I did have problems with the title which was made up with various black chipboard and stickers since most of them had run out eeee's. I actually had to cut out the e out of a three but I got away with it because of using different fonts.
I only managed three pages to Hubby's book and one partially done but I've booked into an all day crop in a few weeks time and I plan to finish it.

Wishes for Kisses

Dies and Punches is the new challenge on Penny Black Saturday Challenge and it suited me, you all know how I love my dies.
So first the paper is Echo Park Hello Winter and I used the colours for Hedgie's scarf. I then used the Simon say Stamp Stitched Ovals to make a frame and using matching colours I stamped the frame with lots of Snowflakes. This is what inspired the Joy card I made in the week.
Now for some more dies, I used the Simon Says Stamp Rylynn  Snowflake with fun foam, the snowflake in the corner has a couple of small sticky fixers so I don't have a floppy snowflake!
I also cut out the Let is Snow from Penny Black, I use PVA glue to stick its a bit messy but I always take the off some of glue first on a scrap bit of paper.
Somewhere under the bow and snowflake is MFT grass die but upside down to make icicles, I cheated and cut them out of glitter card.
The Penny Black stamp is called Wishes for Kisses not sure if its still available.
Do pop over and check out the team.
Meanwhile today I'm off to the Scrap Cafe Bracknell Crop, I've only taken Hubby's Scrapbook and I have 9 pages to go. I will be happy if I can get at least four pages done.

mistletoe snowman

There was a sketch not sure if it was last week or even the week before with a Tree in the centre anyway it stayed in my mind.
I've used Penny Black Jolly Friends Transparent set carefully stamped the sentiment underneath and it still looks crooked even worse now I photo it.
I also used the Simon Says Stamps Bundle of shapes and because its too late for the challenge I added the pieces of spotted patterned card.
I'm so pleased how it looked I forgot to add funflock and flowersoft to his hat bobble but it still looks OK.

Joy

Oh dear the cards in drafts are nearly all gone but on a good note I made a DT card yesterday but the bad news I won't have time today.
Anyway back to my card was inspired by the card I made for this weeks Penny Black Saturday Challenge but you will have to wait till Saturday to see what I mean.
I used Simon Says Stamp Lots of Snowflakes stamps in various colours ideally matching the Echo Park Hello Winter which I used for the Simon Says Stamp Joy die.
I use fun foam for the Simon says Stamp Rylynn and I added the hearts from the small doily heart die again from Simon Says Stamps.
I paper pricked the edges with the idea I wouldn't have to mat and layer it.
Hospital appointment this morning much rather have been at the NEC never mind maybe in March.

Thanks

wed-newchallenge-header

Hi all and welcome to another week on the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge
Thank you for joining us for the Anything Goes Challenge and we hope you will all join us again this week too.
We will be back soon with the name of the lucky winner of the $50 Voucher
This week the challenge is

THANKS/THANKSGIVING

We are showcasing our very own Simon Says Stamp Exclusive Products this week. You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see them used

My DT card was made very quickly because I decided I wasn't keen on the one I had made. So I cut out my frame using Simon Says Stamps Stitched Squares and using the Simon Says Stamp Apple of my Pie. The stamp set came with the Simon Says Stamps November Kit but you can buy the stamp set on it own.
It helps if you have a small acylic block for each leaf and each leaf had its own inkpad. I've used Olive Green, Orange Peel and Goldenlocks but you can use any Autumn colours.
The large sentiment is also from the stamp set but this time I used Versamark and WOW Gold Pearl Embossing powder.

This was my failure I added a bit of acetate under the frames for the Simon Says Stamps Thanks die to sit on but decided to add some matching red leaves. After I stuck it all together I could hear Julia Roberts saying in my head BIG MISTAKE.

So now it's YOUR turn.  Happy Crafting
