Duet of cards

I was checking the CPS blog for some inspiration for their latest sketch CPS107 and noticed they were using word stamps which reminded me of the fab word set I got from Butterfly Kisses so I decided to use this one and to add a butterfly its been a while since I used one, then as I was starting to choose BG papers I remembered Basic Grey challenge was for rounded corners which inspired the rest of the card. I believe the papers are Sugared but most was loose I know they're BG but it could be from another set.

So this is the card that gave me such a headache yesterday, I wanted her to have a shining Umbrella but the glossy accents wouldn't leave the bottle, only in tiny blobs so I binned it of course I probably wouldn't have if I didn't know that I had a brand new bottle. Which after I used it on the umbrella and I moved the piece of paper it was on to a safe place while it dried, it flipped over, so I then had to either repair it or do it all over again. Eventually I managed my shining umbrella but it you noticed its cracked a little that was not leaving well alone till it properly dried. Luckily the new bottle worked well and I managed my raindrops. The stamp is dream 2 stamp and I've used Sketch and Stash sketch although I turned it upside down, I could be cheeky and say the little heart gem on the flower to break the plainness was for Spoonful of Sugar challenge but I won't.

A little extra

I've just had an arguement with a bottle of glossy accents, which has ended with me throwing it in the bin and having to remake what I was doing so I thought I would do some nice instead and upload these DT cards for Simon Says Stamps. They sent me loads of fab stamps and this belongs to the Elephant set and as soon as I saw this one I immediately saw a baby card. It's only right if you do one in Pink you have to do one in Blue too.

Not sure of the papers only that I've had them for a long time and they are the only ones I have that are baby colours. The sentiments are Peel offs I don't use them often but I love the ones you can get in white or black.

Tilda and flowers

I've decided that one of the cards I made for Mother's Day that you haven't seen which I'm not happy with probably because its not that cute isn't going to be used now, so I needed one more for Jean although not our Mum we always send her a card.

Also I wanted to use these new My Minds Eye papers and because MVS challenge is for Mother's Day and this Tilda from the Spring Kit needed to be use, that means with this card all Mother's Day cards are done. I know the sentiment doesn't say Mother's day but I thought it will still work for a Mum who isn't our Mum.

Now I need to put the inserts in and get them posted today so they have plenty of time to get to their destinations.

Thanks for the offer of baggies, all sorted and have some on the way from Sandra.

Mice in Teacup

I'm not to happy with this because I coloured the cup and saucer to match some other papers and then I didn't like it so I changed the paper and now I'm not sure the colours work. I've used the very last bit of Imaginesce papers and I've used the Penny Black Saturday challenge sketch and if you've seen it you would know there was no way I was going to past up using those cute photo corners.

I'm so disappointed that I missed out on some of the Sugar Nellies, OK it was only one but it was the really cute boy with the Ice Cream so to get over it I brought most of the others!

Also can anyone help, I need a least a dozen more baggies for Create a card for Cancer, I forgot to look on Saturday, I blame the shock of going out made me forget and the local craft shop has run out and Sis has put her's in a safe place (so she'll find them sometime next year). You can e-mail me at the address on the sidebar.

Sugar Bowl

Having got the new Magnolia kit out of my system I finally made a Mother's Day for the Sugar Bowl challenge. Unfortunately I haven't got the new photo corners out of my system its more of a case have a corner, must put one there. The papers are Bo Bunny, the image is Sweet Ebony from Funky Kits, a mixture of flowers. The flowers make it quite bulky so not sure which Mother is going to get this one.

WOW wasn't the weather brilliant yesterday, it was lovely not moaning at everyone to close the back door for a change and I actually had washing on the line. Of course there are some disadvantages like doesn't the sun show up the dust and lets not even talk about the dirty windows.

Butterfly Tilda

Yesterday morning, I had settle in to read my comments and visit some blogs when the phone went, "Fancy going shopping" said my Sis and we not talking food or clothes shopping. We decided to go to The Craft Barn cos Nikki wanted some papers and maybe it was because I knew Sandra was demo-ing. But we also managed after waiting in queue of traffic for 40minutes to move 3 miles to get to The Glitter Pot where I couldn't leave till at least one Penny Black fell in my basket, then on the way to Crafts U Love we found Treasure's Craft, not bad 4 Craft shops. Hi to Sandra who was making a fab WOJ card while I was there and I'll be looking at the cuttlebug corner with a different light and also if you see on my card today there's some quickutz photo corners well I blame Sandra cos I saw it on one of her cards and decided I needed one.

After all that waffle I'll get to my card, which is another Magnolia Spring Kit, I've used Sketch Saturday, some Pebbles paper which could be new even though I said I wouldn't buy any paper.

Today I need to seriously catch up, I had planned to make a few cards yesterday and I missed catching up with the blogs I love.

Tilda and Butterflies

I was ready to make a Mother's day card for the Sugar Bowl when my Magnolia Spring Kit dropped through the letterbox, so it was all stop and EZ mount them and start stamping. I love this Tilda not sure if the Butterfly would really stay in her hand while running down the road. The papers are My Minds Eye which were leftover from a pack that I brought to Scrapbook J my Gt Nephew. I've used Carole's sketch on Friday sketchers but I turned it upside which worked better so I could show off the butterflies.

Nicole has asked if I use a light box to take my photo's, I thought it would easier to show the Chair that I used. I use a DCWV pack with vintage colour card so if the colour doesn't work I can choose another, there is a thin piece of wood underneath because of the dip of the chair seat. My dinning room has Patio doors so the room is light and I try to take the pics in the morning because the sun (when it does shine) is shining in the room in the afternoon and its too bright then. I always take my pics of my cards with the Macro setting on my camera its the one with the flower on and because of some bizarre reason my hands shake in the mornings I use a tripod inherited from my FIL.

Then its a case of uploading the pic to the PC, crop it, stick my name on it somewhere and then I resize it so it isn't a large file after all its a card and I don't plan to print the pic. Gosh I've waffled on it a bit sorry.

One done two to go

One Mother's day card done only two more to do and if my DD had her way she would like me to make my own . There's a fantastic sketch on Cute Card Thursday from Katharina and its their first Birthday and there's some fab prizes this week. I've used another WOJ spring collection girl who has been waiting patiently to be used, My Minds Eye paper and some fab flowers from Poppicraft.

Nothing much happening here, my trip down to the hairdressers means I look young again (all my grey done) Hubby has started to decorate the hall (more mess) and I'm have problems sleeping again, so body clock is all over the place.

Here comes the Girls

There's a fabulous sketch on Papertake Weekly and its perfect for these sweet Japanese girls, the stamp is dream2stamp. I've masked them for the challenge on Secret Crafter but then I wanted to paper piece them so wouldn't actually see that I've masked them. So here's the before.
I used Basic Grey papers Urban Prairie and the flowers are a punch and from Poppicraft. I've tried to keep it simple the girls were quite large together but it was hard and I'm still thinking its too simple

All frogged out

My DT bundle from Simon Says Stamps included a clear stamp set with these fabulous frogs and I didn't have any problems making cards with them, it was more of a case of how to stop. My Somersault frogs are on Daisy Bucket papers and the sentiment comes with the set.
I made this one with some scraps I think possibly with DCWV papers, the water lilies were also in the stamps set and the sentiment is some alphabet peel offs
Some more Daisy Bucket papers and I stamped these frogs out several times and stuck them on together, you could make the pyramid of frogs with masking, its so much easier with clear stamps.
I wanted to put a few more embellishment on but I was told it would be too much, the sentiment was made on the PC and the papers are Chatterbox.
Last but one of my favourites, the frog with the glasses with his skinny arms and legs reminds me of my BIL. I made a little box for him to jump out of and the letters are rub ons and punched out with tiny square punch.
Another week I have nothing on but this week I've several things do, lunch with friends, hairdressers appointment and some normal shopping, added to this Mother's Day cards which I like to make a bit special but they take a while to make and I can't show my Mum's cos sometimes she see's my blog.

Truly Daisy

On the Truly Scrumptious challenge blog was another fab sketch with an option of handmade buttons. I made felt buttons, first I stuck the felt on a piece of card makes life easier to cut them out and to handle, I added them to funky flowers made with a EK sucess punch. The papers are scraps of Daisy Bucket papers which this sketch is great too use them up. Now Daisy gave me a dilemma because using a brown inkpad I stamped her and she looks so good I didn't want to colour her in, so really I've only use the beige colour for highlighting the shadow.
Yesterday after I had published my post, I settled down to have a bit of blog hop and suddenly I lost my connection and occurring to the recorded message wouldn't be back till 1.30pm, when I will be enjoying my lunch with some friends. No problem I'll catch up last night, well Mr Blogger just likes to go really slow and I'm not know for my patience, so sorry I gave up. So I've got a lot of catching up to do today.

Signs of Spring

Oh dear I've combined a couple of challenges for this card, the first challenge is Cute Card Thursday with Food and Drink, pretty certain that a bottle of Bubbly covers that and on Penny Black Saturday there's a recipe challenge, 3 brads, 2 ribbons and one flower, which I think I've pretty well ticked everything on that list. The papers are Daisy Bucket, just need to get into the post for my nephew, I've missed his birthday but he's away in Spain on stag do, don't think he'll be drinking the bubbly stuff but plenty of beer.

Leaving with a photo from my garden, my miniature daffs are all in flower and there are signs of plants waking up for Spring.

Lavender and Sketch

Whiff of Joy challenge is for Lavender and Lace and I used the Bearly Mine cd again only cos it was so easy to pick the papers for the colour. I've also used this weeks Friday Sketchers sketch from Manue. The frame is the leftovers of a frame I made with the cricut but I used the shapes as a template, the corners were cut from the cricut Storybook cartridge with punched flowers and a Cuddly Buddly sentiment in the flower which was once again punched.

Waves to my new Dream2stamp team-mate Caz, she has some candy to be won too.

Hot Chocolate

I wanted to do the challenge on Papertake Weekly which is for the colours Brown, Orange and Pink but the thought of hunting through my papers to find the right colours put me off that is till I got the Bearly Mine CD of Designer Extreme Vol1 papers, I just printed off the ones I thought would work together. Bear in mind my ink has nearly run out and I use my quick print, they printed out pefectly and it means I will be able to join in colour challenges quicker, does this mean no more buying paper, errr I don't think so. The image is WOJ Jester from the Medevial set.

That's torn it

Torn paper is the challenge on A Spoonful of Sugar and anyone crafty who knows me, knows that I don't do torn paper but I got out my ruler and I torn round all the edges of these papers which I think are Pebbles inc, not sure though. Rather than get Damon the sewing machine down from his hiding place upstairs ( he was put there while the floors were being done) I stitched by hand, the image is a Stampendous stamp that I brought at Christmas in the secondhand sale for £1.50 but she is a large stamp and I couldn't do much as she was a busy image too. I made the shabby flowers because I thought they would work well with the torn paper. She looks a bit washed out photo wise, may have to sort that out later.
I'm now a proud owner of the Dandelion and Daisy stamps, first impressions they are a lovely size with lovely sentiments and all for £5.99, I've also got the Bearly Mine Designs CD and first impressions of that is pretty good too. I know for a fact my ink cartridge is running out and I've printed a few sheets in Quick print and they look fab.

Pockets

The challenge at Basic Grey Challenge is for pockets and Jo made a fabulous tag pocket card using Claudia's fab tutorial on SCS which I thought would work with the new tree stamp. So using some old BG Urban Couture, I made a nearly all white card because it wasn't doubleside so I flipped everything the other way but it means the pockets are the wrong way round. The fabulous tree is from Stamps Away from clevercut, I was going to just buy the large one but Nikki mentioned the little on would work on tags so basically this card is her idea. Funny enough I've only used the little tree and those cute Owls are the ones a brought from Dream2stamp and paper pieced.
I've followed the front onto the tags.

Transport

First I would like to apologise for calling PB Bunny a mouse, yes I checked out all my PB mouse cards and they all have round ears, I have no excuse I blog in the morning stone cold sober and I was wearing my glasses or at least I think I was.

Isn't it great when you find a challenge and an idea immediately pops into your head, well that's what happened when I found out that the Secret Crafter Challenge was for transport. I knew I wanted to use this Dream2stamp girl with her bicycle, I also knew I wanted to have a go at this type of card but do you think I could find a template or a tutorial, luckily it was easy to work out. I used acetate for the centre of her wheels and for the balloons so they didn't flop over, not sure on the papers I've had them a while.
So what was you doing 31 years ago, I was getting married and here we are still celebrating together.

Cabbage Patch Mouse

The Penny Black Saturday challenge was for something you eat, I'm sure I've done something similar on another challenge and couldn't think of a stamp except this little chap hidden in a Cabbage! So still using bits of the Imaginesce papers and using Sketch Saturday sketch, which I think worked well with this little chap. After I finished this and was blog hopping realised that I also had the PB girl with an ice cream duh.

So this was the layout I managed to do on Sunday and yes I don't know what I was doing all day either. Worse still I have an urge to get Damon the sewing machine out to sew a border now thats scaring cos we don't get on and the chances of me messing the layout up is very high. The papers are Crate paper Static collection, that I brought last year and now its old I've finally managed to cut into it.
I had some fabulous post yesterday, first a fabulous DT parcel from Simon says Stamps gosh the girls over there have been extremely generous with goodies as well as stamps. My order from Stephany at Dream2stamp who has now put Paypal on her site after my bank wanted to charge £10 for a bank transfer, thanks Stephany, I now have in my hands that cute bunny in the plant pot and the cute owls (others too). I also got my High Hopes stamps that I won on their blog too. Its a good job I brought quite a bit of EZ mount recently.

A bit of Sugar

What a surprise to see a Christmas challenge at the Sugar Bowl the day after I made a Christmas card for Rudolph day so it meant I could get out the fabulous Snowmen from Funky Kits they were my favourites from last year. Afraid the papers have lost their designer strip, so no idea whose they are, the snowflakes are a sizzix die and a punch using glitter card.

I love this cute award sent to me by Suzanne and Caryn, now I'm suppose to send this to 10 faves, this could be tricky with so many fabulous blogs out there.

Yesterday at Scrapbuddies I managed to do a layout, still can't believe how long it took to make, I must reallys top shuffling paper around and get on with it.

Welsh Dragon

What a better day than St David's day to post my WOJ dragon and I think he's worked out beautifully and of course I've 3d him too. I've used the Truly Scrumptious sketch but I've turned it hoping to put ribbon or something down the side but I liked the corners so I thought a bow but I didn't think it was very dignified to have a bow where he's tail is. The papers are BG and I use Prismacolours and Sansador for colouring.

Tracey asked about getting a Cricut, too be honest if I was just a cardmaking I'm not sure I would have brought it, I tend to use it more for cutting out alphabets, although I probably don't make the most of it anyway.

Off to Scrapbuddies today not sure how much will get done, hardly did anything at MJ the other week and if MJ hadn't done a challenge I would have done even less.
