Freshly Butterfly

Ok this just didn't work out that well and really I'm now thinking it should of headed for the bin. I tried using a multi coloured inkpad but it didn't quite work out.
Like the multi coloured strip I made with bit of card, love the rose embossing background but then it went down hill from there.
I noticed the die is missing the dot on the eye my butterfly isn't as nice as it could be and who thought she could just stamp on embossed card.
The sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, no way I'm entering it the only consolation I made a couple of DT cards and they're OK.
I've invited both my children over for a roast dinner little do they know I'm supervising and the rest of them are cooking it!

Flower Cat

Even I surprised myself making a card for today. I'm pretty certain that this Penny Black Special Delivery is really for Valentines but it still would work for a cat lovers birthday or mothers day even way I've used some really girly girly papers from Kaiser.
It just so happened that I still had the stamp set Flowers on my Mind from Simon Says stamps March kit. Which you can buy with dies but I just very carefully cut round them giving them a bit of a white border which I actually hate doing but it looks worth it.
To finish a fishtail banner using a square punch and using Simon Says Stamps Birthday Messages.
My friend Nikki is having a class today so I will be spending a couple of hours stealing her ideas but will see how I'm feeling to whether I will be up to making more cards especially has I got a pattern for a crochet puppy that crying out to be made.

Sketch Saturday

I actually got around to making a card for the Sketch Saturday sketch. Ok it is CAS but it still a  card and I'm really please how it turned out.
Of course the sweet image is from LOTV along with the papers. I used the Stamping Up border punch and hid half of it under the image mat, I also used the Martha Stewart Hydrangea punch to add a couple of flowers which were punch out of the main mat and back with contrasting pink.
The Baby die and the rest of the sentiment are all from Simon say Stamp.
I paper pieced the pram to match the papers and only now I realise I haven't dotted the dress with a white pen will have to rectify that later.
It may be in the pipeline for a flying visit to MIL since she is hospital with a chest infection that doesn't want to get better so they plan on giving her some really strong ones, fingers crossed she will be home soon.

Green and Yellow

Not very adventurous type of card but I haven't made many cards for the Less is More challenges this year so far and I thought I could manage the Green and Yellow challenge. Even if it just using a Mo image, I used the sentiment that came with it but stamped the Happy Birthday which I was impressed I didn't muck it up.

After everything was stuck something was missing so I added the paper pricking edging which was worth it but going through a couple of layers of card not the best idea I had.
The papers were on my desk I think they are the American Craft pack that I used for yesterday cards.

I've been playing making cards some things worked but quite a few didn't even made it into a card. But I need to get on top of my DT cards for next week now and I have a couple of cards that I won't be able to show till it pasts the events.

 

Flying

I don't think this is the first time I used this image for a challenge but I put Flying in the search on Simon Say Stamps and this Penny Black stamp called Fly with me was one of the stamps that popped up in the results so how could I resist.
I used the American Craft 6x6 papers called Summer which is very apt here in the UK since we had a few days of sunshine although rain is forecast for today.
I added a picket fence using the MFT fence die to give the impression he's flying above it. Since he is flying with a kite it seem only right to use the Simon Says Stamp Soaring for You stamps and die set, do love the kites tail.
To finish it needed a sentiment and I can't stop myself using either the Sending or Wishing die and using a sentiment from the sending and wishing stamp set.

Giraffe

The clocks have already gone forward an hour in the US and that means the Simon Says Stamp post won't be till 3pm and I thought an add an extra post with another crochet animal. Especially has my daughter has posted this on FB on her timeline.

He turned out cute, forgot to say he is a Ravelry free download.

Back at 3pm with the Simon Says Stamps Challenge. Apparently we've got it wrong and the challenge will be posting at 1pm here in the UK(its only for a couple of weeks till the UK spring forward for British Summertime)

You've been on my mind

When I received this months kit from Simon says Stamp all I could think of  was using pics of  Mum and I couldn't get past that, to think of a card so I put it away again. This weeks challenge at Everybody Art Challenge was for something Old and once again all I could see in my head was the Simon Says Stamp kit and Mum's Photos, I decided to stop fighting it and just do it.
I'm so please how these pocket pages worked out. I used the cards for the smaller photos. I cut round part of the butterfly so the photo would slip under it and then embossed the back so the butterfly was rounded. The other small photo I place inside a Spellbinders die.
I used the Lavish Branch and the Hydrangea punch for the smaller flowers and used the Flowers on my Mind stamps from the kit which can be brought separately if you wish. Also in the kit was Liquid Pearls in Black that made the small pearl like dots for the flower centres.
You've been on my mind sentiment is also in the stamp set and again I knew I had to use it and I added the Simon Says Stamp Mum die, along with the Love, Small Doily Hearts finished with a Holiday Shapes heart.
I also finally used the Cup of Tea die has a reminder that a cup of tea would always been offered when you visited.
I'm going to do a one or two photo 12 x12 page to go next to these pocket pages. Maybe I will be able to do something similar for my Dad.

Morris Mouse

Meet Morris the Mouse, I was really pleased how he turned out. He is a free Ravelry download and the link is here but I do think you have to join to download. I did have a problem fixing his safety eyes had to get my daughter to put the washer on. I didn't go wrong everything is the right way round .

So pleased how Morries turned out I thought I would give it a go and make a pink version. Interesting that different double knits are so very different and I had to go for a small hook to make sure crochet wasn't too loose for stuffing. It did mean that she comes out smaller but Morris doesn't mind he always wanted a sister.

Arriving in Style

Mmmmm clean and simple style it having a knock on effect on my scrapbooking or just the fact I made this while I was under the weather.
I do love this couple occasionally you get a nice photo but somewhere down the line there always will be a fun quirky one.
The leaves are from Simon Says Stamps and the flowers are a EK success punch. I cut out STYLE on the cricut and supposedly following the leaves. Found the chipboard letters in my stash and the papers are probably Simple Stories.
Had a great time at the crop but I started 3 layouts and I still have to finish them. Looking forward to going to the retreat at the end of the month, going to have to think about what I'm going to do there soon.

Spring Flowers

It's time for another challenge on Penny Black Saturday Challenge and this month with Spring round the corner its for Spring Blooms.
I decided to use this chap that is an old image but also can be found as a slapstick stamp from Penny Black.
The papers are Authentique and I'm pretty certain I found the sketch on Pinterest, it could be an old Mojo Monday one.
Anyway I added the fence to give a bit more dimension on the image mat and added some favourite dies since I knew it would work and be quick. The leaves are Lavish Brance from Memory Box and the Hydrangea punch from Martha Stewart add a bit ribbon for a bow and job done. Oh the butterflies are a very old punch brought in the early days of cardmaking, its not doing to bad since its probably about 14-15 years old!

Me I'm off to a crop, I've packed my tissues, sweets to suck to stop some of the coughing and plenty of water. Hope I don't fall alsleep on my layout since I've been awake since silly o'clock.

Dream Catcher

I made a card, don't get too excited I thinking of listing the things I would do better next time. I think I may have gone a bit OTT on the enamel dots.
The sketch is Mojo Monday with a sneaky bit of twine sorry but can't help myself even that or a bit of ribbon.
I used the fabulous Dream catcher from Spellbinders and added a bit of colour to the feathers.
I finished off with the Simon Says Stamps sending die, mainly cos the stamp would have to been stamped over the mat and would create a halo effect but its not a problem with a die but I did cut it twice so it could be seen well. Added the other bit of sentiment from the sending happy thoughts stamps set from Simon Says Stamp.
Oh and the paper is Echo Park, sorry can't remember which one now.

Working Out Bear

You must be fed up with all the reports of me feeling unwell but I've now upgrade the virus to flu and thats why its taking so long to for it to clear up and my energy levels are pants at the moment. I also advise not to make anything while sick because I made this poor bear or to me he still looks like a mouse.
I found the pattern in the Love Crochet magazine, it was going well till I realised I didn't have the right size eyes which help to make him mouse like.
Then I stitched him together and tidy up the ends, I couldn't work out what was wrong. He was very butch looking, like he had been working out and had broad shoulders.

Oops I've sewn his body upside down.

Hubby has started to worry that this crochet animals are starting to take over the house, with another mouse and a pig made. I'm now on a very strange looking Giraffe.

I'm still making CAS cards still struggling with energy levels this bug has really dragged me down but I so wanted to used the new stamp that Simon Says Stamp sent me called Abby's Spring Showers.
Doodlebug papers are perfect for this image and I used Hello Sunshine and even used it for Abby's coat and hat.
The raindrops and the puddle both come with the stamp set and I used some Glossy Accents to make my puddle look wet.
A little bit of twine again this is from Doodlebug I love that its a soft finish and makes nice bows.
To finish and the bit I'm not sure of is the fishtail banner but it had to be that size to fit my Happy Birthday sentiment using the Birthday Message's set. The make a splash sentiment came from the Abby's Spring Showers.

Georgie Cartwheel

Time for a new Everybody Art Challenge this week is for Buttons and Bling. Now I got the buttons covered in my pinwheels which I thought would work with what is essentially a boys card.
The bling was bit more tricky, it was going to be easy to place a bit of bling on a boys card but the twine I use has a sliver of silver running through it. Ok its a bit of cheat but at least there's a tiny bit of bling on it.
Now for my fun, cute image is from Mo Manning called Georgie Cartwheel, the papers are LOTV and I think the sketch could be Sweet Sunday Sketch but altered slightly to fit the image.

Pot Plants

I made a card, I've been really disappointed that I've been so unwell I haven't used the fabulous new stamp set Abby's Spring Showers that Simon Says Stamp sent me to celebrate their Hop to it release.
I have not idea how the card came together though. I remember seeing a strip of colour of some cards and thought I would give it a go. The fact I love the little pot flower and stamped out several, coloured them and they were ready to use.
Then I decided to use the Wishing die and backed it with the stripy paper, I did have bit of issue that the tape that held the die in place slightly damaged the card but since I couldn't bring myself to throw it in the bin. The bow is kinda hiding the damage or at least making it not as obvious.
Not sure how much crafting I will get done this week with myself still feeling pants and I've worked out I'm doing something everyday this week, how did that happen.

It Touches my heart

I've pretty much followed most of the layout design from one I had pinned in Pinterest but what really made me what to do it was the title. It was perfect for this picture of My Dad and my Gt Nephew.
I'm so please we found the time to take Dad down to visit Lou and Neil's Cottage  before Lou went back to work after maternity leave, especially has he was in such good health at the time.
The papers are some October Afternoon ones that have been in my stash for ages so it was nice to see them begining used.

Scooter Hedgie

I know its suppose to be a Valentines image but I think it works all the year round. The little PB Hedgie on his scooter is called Sweet Ride  and the papers I think are American Crafts.
I used the Stitched Rectangles for the image mat and the Bundle of shapes for the outer mat. Then I used the Wishing die along with the sentiment from the Sending and Wishing stamp set.
My stitched scallops going across my card are from Lawn Fawn.
Like I said yesterday a CAS card but at least I getting back on the horse!

White with Wings

Woo Hoo I made a card, yes I know its CAS but its still a card and I made another for tomorrow too so things are definitely on the mend.
The card came together because this large Cluster leaf die from Simon Says Stamps is on my desk having cut a few for a scrapbook page before the virus took hold.
I've cut it in green and white and overlapped them. I decided to used the Simon Says Stamps Stitched Rectangles for the centre panel and the bit of twine since this looked like the Freshly Made Sketch.
I stamped the sentiment after I had put everything together and to my horror is didn't stamp cleanly at all. Rather than chuck it in the bin I got a black pen drew the bits missing so unless you looking real close it looks OK.
I very naughtily add a couple of Simon Says Stamps Songbirds so I could add it to the Less is More Challenge for Wings but I feel a bit guilty its not quite what they looking for.

Baby Girl

I think you can scrub away the man from ManFlu cos I've never coughed so much or feel so rough. I do feel now I'm on the mend but my energy levels are nil.
This card was in my drafts, I haven't made a card for over a week. I made it for a challenge then realised I got the challenge wrong.
First of all the baby is from Mo and the lovely pink papers are from LOTV. You can see I've used from favourite branch die from Memory Box and the fab MFT Crochet die for round the circle mat. The corners finished with the La LaLand die.
Fingers crossed I get to spend some time in my craftroom without coughing or falling alsleep.

I have used the fabulous set from Lawn Fawn called Friendship Grows and although I have the dies as well there's nothing more therapeutic then cutting out. Each Flower I cut out two sets of  flower heads removing some background petals for one of them set of them.
I used Simple Stories Hello Baby not only for the background but for the actual flowers.
I used the Simon Says Stamps Woodland Frame to frame the flowers and finished with a Sketchy Banner sentiment.
