Planning for the trip to Falmouth at the New Year I decided to take the grey wool and the 12 square of Charlotte Cal, I did manage to complete quite a few but it left me one ball to complete five remaining and you guessed it I ran out before the last one was done. I ordered another one and maybe some other wool this was so I didn't pay postage!
There was me thinking my next colour was cream and I discovered for Part 3 I had to use the grey for one row all around the square, it was touch and go but lucky me that extra ball of grey just managed to get round all of them phew.
Whilst waiting for my grey wool I started a Laura Tegg Weebee doll, she sure has a big head and I've discovered the brown wool I'm using for her hair is coming up small, so I've frogged it (frogging it what its called when undoing what you've crochet) and will use a larger hook.
Recently I've been involved with a discussion about how blogging isn't as popular as it used to be. Many people are happy to use the like button on FB and Instagram rather than commenting on peoples blog. Made me think why did I blog in the first place. One of the main reasons was that I had a record of what I made and few times I've even check how I colour or used a die from a past card. I've always blogged for me and I know that my posts aren't everyday like it used to be but there are more than one reason why thats happening although I plan to try and do better.
Your squares are gorgeous Debby, your blanket will be wonderful. I agree with you totally re blogging and have had the same discussion myself. I started blogging to keep a record of my creativity. 6 1/2 years on it does just that and I have fun looking back at old posts. I find with FB that everthing is very fleeting. I know that it suits some businesses more but for individuals I still love bloggs. I always enjoy reading your posts and the first thing I do every morning is read my blog list over a cuppa, even if I don't have time to comment on every one. Keep snug xx
ReplyDeleteNo, don't give up your blog. I enjoy it so much, but I don't comment as much as I should!
ReplyDeleteThis crochet is so beautiful Debby and this will look fabulous when finished, a real statement piece. I think blogging is very interactive and I love getting to know people through the blogs that I follow more closely, whereas Facebook is far more impersonal. Just pressing 'like' is quicker and easier and you can comment I know, but personally I think a blog is a much more rounded way of showing ones creations and as you say you can look back at it and it is a much more permanent record of what you have done, much like a diary, whereas Facebook is a throw away note. Sorry to write an essay but I feel quite passionately about this. x
ReplyDeleteLovely crochet work. I love blogging and visitong other blogs and keeping up with what everyone is dping. I agree with the above, FB is more throw away. I miss it when people stop visiting. Hope you have time to visit again soon x
ReplyDeleteYou're so productive, Debby, and get so much accomplished! I'm always amazed. I blog for me, too. It's nice to have a record of what I've done, and it has been fun to meet people online and learn new crafting skills from them. I thank YOU for all you have taught me over the last few years.
ReplyDeleteYour squares are amazing - totally love the colours and that little doll is going to be cute :-)
ReplyDeleteI love reading through my blogging list to see what everyone is doing. I may not blog myself every day but I love to read others.
I think the reason blogging is less than it was is that people are just too darn lazy to do it. It's much quicker to Click on a Like button etc. but not spend the time to read and leave a nice comment for someone :-(
xxx
Ha I've done that often enough, bought 'extra' so I didn't have to pay a couple of ££ postage ;) Beautiful squares.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy blogging too, I'm always more inclined to read a blog post, but a post on Facebook is just a quick glance.
