My daughter has already put this on her FB timeline and tagged me so I thought I better pop this on my Blog. I'm loving crochet at the moment and I can't keep making granny squares for blankets so my daughter suggested making toys.
I saw this book on C&C ages ago briefly has flicked through the channels which was selling it with some very expensive alpaca wool, then Jak made some, reminding me about the book. So brought it from Amazon its called Edward Managerie.
I can say there were times I nearly threw it in the bin especially has I realised I had made it the wrong way round and unpicked it yet again. I also seem to twist the limbs whilst going in rounds. I've used ordinary cheap double knitting wool it doesn't give the natural look the alpaca would give but keeps the price down if I give them away.
The worse thing is stitching the legs on so that they would sit unaided so I would recommend that you made a weighted bag to stuff inside which is suggested. I haven't got any weighted beads yet but that the plan when I hubby get time to take me to Hobbycraft.
Fab crochet work Debby, I think it's nice to have a diversion from cards every now and then.

Love them Debbie. I decided to get back into crocheting as I have two new adorable grandkids at the moment (meaning the others and older and not into teddies etc not that I got rid of them cause they are old!!) anyhooo I decided I wanted to try some of these patterns but my old ostio hands did not agree and had to stop. So glad you are enjoying it. Keep it up, its so worth it. They are so cute.

ReplyDeleteFabulous Debby, I always thought crotchet to be easy until I started making an amigurumi animal and had to open it at least 40 times until I threw it! so I admire your skill in making these fabulous little animals. They really are very cute.

Ahhhh how adorable Debby, they are just the sweetest! you've done a lovely job on them, I didn't know you were into crocheting, another string to your bow, know what you mean about always doing squares, does get a bit boring, but I don't think I'd be able to follow a pattern, maybe I'll have a go at a toy one day.

Crochet something I have never been able to do! My SIL gave up on me 40 years ago..
She said it was because I was left handed!!
These crocheted animals are really cute Debby and made so well. Your crocheting has inspired me to start a blanket/throw using the ripple stitch because I love the wavy pattern but I think it may take me quite a while to finish it! x
