Cream Shawl

This was my first attempt at a crochet pattern that was in the Simply Crochet magazine it turned out beautifully only wish I could find the pattern I wanted to make a black one but couldn't find it and had to use an alternative.
The Scarf ring and stick came with the copy not sure I would use but it looked like nice for the photo. The wool or cotton in this case was 4ply Patons which I brought at Hobbycraft for their buy 2 get one free offer.

Still need to work out how to decrease and increase and to distinguish between USA and UK patterns!

Hiya Debbs. Oooo how gorgeous, I would love to do this. I make crochet blankets but I do a load of squares (loads) and then sew them all together at the end. Love this tho' and would love to try it.

This is beautiful.
The way to tell if it is a pattern from the USA is if you see single crochet (sc) as a stitch. We call it a double crochet (dc) here in the UK.

Beautiful shawl Debby, I crochet but haven't really got the patience for big projects like this. The UK US crochet thing is a bit of a pain, I quite like having a chart.

Debby this is just beautiful xx I have just started doing crochet with my sister, we just attended a course run by a Lady called Barbara Touti Evans at the Maltings at Farnham. (she is doing more courses I believe and does them elsewhere) Barbara is fabulous and Lou and I are thinking of booking her for a morning of one to one tutition, she charges £25 per hour so if you would be interested it would be at my sister's at Hartley Witney or at Barbara's house which isn't too far away (not sure which part of Surrey you are in) then I am sure she would show you all the things you would like to know. If you are interested we could book her for three hours and share the cost and pay £25 each.

Also the crochet Encylopedia is fantastic, I refer to it such a lot, get the blue fronted book though as this is the English version, the other is American (off Amazon).

It's truly beautiful, I could only dream of making this.
